Behind the scenes : a day in the life of a Digital Account Manager

Lois is a Digital Account Manager within our Digital Delivery & Partner Success team here at Bright Network. It’s Lois’ role to understand her clients’ graduate recruitment needs & objectives, and to work in collaboration with them to achieve these objectives. She’ll do this by educating her clients on the full range of digital services we offer & how to make the most of these - ultimately helping her clients connect with diverse & talented graduates from our network.

Lois shared some behind the scenes insights on a typical day for her as a Digital Account Manager

9am

My day starts with a face-to-face meeting with one of our key clients in the financial services sector. Myself and an Account Director (Josh!) from our Commercial team are presenting back campaign results at the end of the successful season to three fairly senior stakeholders.

Josh and I meet to talk through the meeting’s agenda and ensure we’re both on the same page, then head on over to the client’s offices.

Two of the people we’re meeting with are our day-to-day contacts who we’ve been working with on a regular basis through the campaign (and they’ve been really happy with the results we’ve achieved), but we’re also going to be joined by their brand new Graduate Recruitment Director, who we haven’t yet met in person, so this is a great opportunity to reiterate the value our service can provide.

11am

Back at the office, a few clients have sent through some urgent requests to update their employer profiles with new and exciting content, so I action these changes and ensure the profiles are up to scratch, and then get starting preparing an email campaign for a new client that’s going to be launched next week. Their priority is to improve gender diversity & social mobility in their technology graduate scheme, so part of preparing the campaign involves using our data segmentation tool to ensure the email targets the right members based on their demographic, behavioral and psychometric data.

1pm

We had a new starter this week, so I head out to lunch with them at Spitalfields market, which is just around the corner from our offices to spend some time getting to know them!

2pm

After lunch we have our weekly Digital team meeting, where we come together as a team to update each other on key wins and achievements that have happened across the last week. We also use the time to share any challenges or obstacles we’re encountering and get some input from the rest of the team - the meeting’s a great sounding board to share ideas.

3.30pm

Later in the afternoon, we have another client meeting scheduled, this time the meeting’s taking place on Zoom with a large technology company who are a brand new Bright Network client. The meeting is mainly focused on understanding what they want to achieve and what their current pain points are. It transpires that they’ve really successfully hired graduates onto their technology scheme for a number of years, but have launched a new marketing graduate scheme this year and have been struggling to generate as many strong applicants.

We’ll be helping them reposition themselves and their employer brand to target a different audience they’re used to, through our content & digital recommendations.

5pm

To wrap up the day, I have a couple of Slack messages & emails to send to update some of the Account Managers I work with across a range of clients - keeping them in the loop on the progress we’re making on our active campaigns.
